The United Nations Association of Northeastern Pennsylvania organized a public celebration of the U.N. in front of the Lackawanna County Courthouse. The international organization's 80th anniversary was Friday.

Former U.S. Sen. Bob Casey will serve as a Leahy Distinguished Fellow in Public Service at the University of Scranton. The three-term senator, who lost his seat last year, will mentor students, advise on initiatives and contribute to activities aligned with public service and leadership.

The former high school, college and NFL quarterback said he won't try to reclaim the commissioners job. The remaining commissioners are scheduled to accept his resignation Wednesday.

Court administrator says the common pleas court judges will wait until the remaining commissioners vote to accept McGloin's resignation. The vote is set for Wednesday.
