The Arc Angels program will present “Not Just Another Mermaid Tale,” which is based loosely on “The Little Mermaid,” on Thursday, June 11 at 6:30 p.m. at the Lackawanna College theater.

Three restaurants in Lackawanna County now offer a special service - dementia friendly dining. WVIA Healthcare reporter Lydia McFarlane joins WVIA's Sarah Scinto in the podcast studio to explain what that means.

Age Friendly Lackawanna launched Dementia Friendly Dining late last year. Three restaurants trained their staff to become ‘Dementia Friendly’ restaurants. The program aims to support caregivers and their loved ones with dementia while they are out to eat.

Arts for Life provides free art classes from professional artists for caregivers and care recipients to promote acceptance of diagnoses and strengthen relationships between loved ones at the United Neighborhood Centers Oppenheim Healthy Aging Campus in West Scranton.

The Monroe County Dementia Coalition and the Community Foundation of Monroe County will host a dementia care and caregivers forum Oct. 9 at the Shawnee Inn and Golf Resort.

Twice a month, attendees of the Memory Cafe, including those with memory loss diseases and their loved ones, gather for laughs, crafts and support.
