Lackawanna County Sheriff Mark McAndrew has asked the district attorney's office to investigate overtime irregularities involving two deputy sheriffs. The DA has asked the state attorney general to take over the case.

Sources tell WVIA News two Lackawanna County deputy sheriffs face an internal investigation.

After years of sending juvenile detainees to centers in other counties, Lackawanna County will send them to a Berks County center, which will reopen, perhaps as early as July 2027.

Former state Rep. Thom Welby, a Democrat, easily defeated two challengers to win the right to finish out the term of former Commissioner Matt McGloin.
