What secrets live beneath Hazleton? That’s a question WVIA producer, director, and editor Tim Novotney has been digging into for more than a year. His documentary “The Secrets Beneath Hazleton” debuts on WVIA-TV next month. He joins WVIA's Sarah Scinto in the podcast studio to discuss the film and the impact it's already had in Hazleton.

Hazleton’s past is now in the city’s future. The Hazleton Coal Mine tour project was announced during a special screening of WVIA’s upcoming documentary “The Secrets Beneath Hazleton.” An original VIA Short Take by Tim Novotney was the impetus for the project.

Hazleton Mayor Jeff Cusat said he's working with the nonprofit Underground Miners to open a mining tourist attraction in the city.
