Artemis II brought four astronauts the farthest into space humans have ever been. Astronomy enthusiasts here on Earth are hoping NASA’s latest mission will inspire more to explore what’s out there.

Amateur astronomers from the Luzerne County area will share their knowledge of outer space at events hosted by the Wilkes-Barre Astronomy Club.

Events this weekend include Pittston’s annual celebration of the red juicy fruit thought of as a vegetable, an arts festival in Bloomsburg and a 5K at a winery in the Poconos.

A new 5-mile trail project in Weatherly will connect the borough to nearby public lands while preserving water quality and natural habitats. Called the Penn Haven Trail, it could also boost business and tourism in the small Carbon County town situated between White Haven and Jim Thorpe.
