PennDOT Engineers will present preliminary plans for the Interstate-81 Reconstruction Project on Wednesday, Feb. 15.
The meeting in the Dunmore Elementary Center Gym is from 4 to 8 p.m.
The estimated $500 million project will take place on the seven-mile stretch of the highway between Exit 178 in Avoca and Exit 185 in Scranton. It aims to reduce the frequency of crashes and traffic congestion, said Richard Roman, District Executive for PennDOT Engineering District 4-0.
Plans include widening the highway from two lanes to three lanes, improving the location of exits and correcting issues with roadway curves and lanes.
The public is invited to submit their feedback and questions at the meeting, by mail or online throughout the comment period, which begins Wednesday and ends March 15.
