Democrats hope Pennsylvania races help flip the U.S. House and state Senate, expand state House majority and re-elect Gov. Josh Shapiro.

State Rep. Jamie Walsh, Wilkes-Barre City Council President Jessica McClay, Fern Leard and Logan Lombardo won nominations in the primary election Tuesday to run for state House seats in the November election.

State Rep. Eddie Day Pashinski, a Wilkes-Barre Democrat, announced last week he will step down after 20 years in the House. Political observers expect a battle royale between Democratic and Republican candidates and their allies to replace Pashinski.
