The 38-year-old man accused of firebombing the residence of Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro in April has pleaded guilty.

A man who scaled an iron security fence in the middle of the night, eluded police and used beer bottles filled with gasoline to ignite the occupied Pennsylvania governor’s mansion pleaded guilty Tuesday to attempted murder and other charges.

Cody Balmer, 38, of Penbrook, "admitted to harboring hatred toward Governor Shapiro" and planned to beat the governor with a small sledgehammer, according to an arrest affidavit.
