NEPA Philharmonic will hold two free brass quintet concerts in the Back Mountain on Saturday, with a sensory-friendly brass concert at Misericordia University and a Lakeside Brass concert on Harveys Lake.

A Luzerne County boy took top honors Monday in a mullet contest at the Pennsylvania Farm Show in Harrisburg. Drew Fleschut, 10, of Dallas, wore a red-and-black shirt in an homage to movie character Joe Dirt and carried Joe’s trademark mop.

It’s a good weekend to get out and celebrate the arts or honor those who serve our country. Other events this weekend include the Harvey's Lake Run, LCRA Riverfest Sojourn and more.

For many, Labor Day weekend serves as an unofficial end of summer. People across the region enjoyed La Festa Italiana in Scranton, the Wyoming County Fair and an annual sail boat parade in Harveys Lake.
