African American hair is more than fashion. It's part of some people's identities. Salon owners in Northeastern Pennsylvania say they see the area's demographics diversifying, and with that comes the need for licensed hairstylists to not only care for Black hair, but in some cases to create community spaces for learning and understanding. Photojournalist Aimee Dilger captured these images for WVIA News.
