Susquehanna County residents and the county library board split over parental rights and children's rights to privacy concerning library cards at this week’s meeting.

Buried beneath the bluestone steps of the Susquehanna County Courthouse was a glass bottle full of kerosene and history. Crews replacing the over 100 year-old-steps unknowingly smashed the bottle, revealing newspapers, letters and election ballots from 1909. Susquehanna County Commissioners replaced the time capsule full of items from today.

Montrose’s residents welcomed the borough’s 200th anniversary with a two-day celebration. The bicentennial bash honored Montrose’s history and celebrated its future.

Two years ago the artists from the Slanted Art Co-op and Gallery in Susquehanna County started to dream up a large mosaic mural. Saturday they will gather at the base of the mural – fittingly named 'Dare to Dream' – and dedicate it to the Montrose community.

The first mosaic mural in Montrose is complete. The artwork was done over two years by a dozen volunteers and led by mosaic artist Elaine Helvig. Called “Dare to Dream,” it takes up most of the back wall of the Church Street Market in the borough. The market is home to Slanted Art Cooperative Gallery and the artists are members of its co-op.
