Temple Hesed

Each year Temple Hesed in Scranton finds a contemporary way to retell the Book of Esther for the Jewish holiday, Purim. It celebrates the story of a Jewish woman in Persia who saved her people from genocide at the hands of the villain, Haman.

Presidents Day was a day of protest in Northeast Pennsylvania with a demonstration against Project 2025 in Wilkes-Barre, nurses on strike at several locations in Luzerne County, and a vigil to support immigrants and refugees in Scranton.

A group of people from across faiths shared a vegetarian Thanksgiving dinner ahead of the holiday during the Scranton Area Ministerium’s Multifaith Thanksgiving Celebration.
