ICE is giving up on its plan to use warehouses in Schuylkill and Berks counties as detention centers. It withdrew its appeal of a Pa. DEP order preventing the use of local drinking water and a local sewage system until ICE proved it could meet state laws on safe drinking water and sewage disposal.

U.S. Rep. Dan Meuser said Friday his office learned directly from the Department of Homeland Security that the department won't open immigration detention centers in Schuylkill and Berks counties.
