The Burden of Student Debt

As of August of this year, student borrowers in the U.S. owe a combined $1.75 trillion in both federal & private loan debt. That comes from the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis, and Nerdwallet, a personal finance company. According to Forbes.com, on average, student borrowers owe over $28,000 per borrower.
