Eli Calero, already awaiting trial on charges of distributing methamphetamine, is charged with homicide for beating Michael Jones Jr. to death in a prison cell. Jones, convicted at a trial, was awaiting sentencing in federal court for possession with intent to distribute cocaine base, fentanyl and methamphetamine and other counts.

A 26-year-old man with a history of mental health troubles shot his parents and killed a public safety officer in a gated Northeast Pennsylvania residential community on Sunday, state troopers say.

An accused drug dealer was charged Monday with killing a convicted drug dealer in the Lackawanna County Prison three weeks ago. The motive wasn't drugs, police say, but access to newspapers. Eli Calero is charged with beating Michael Jones Jr. to death on Sept. 9.
