Police investigating double homicide domestic incident at Great Wolf Lodge in Monroe County

Pocono Twp. police are investigating a double homicide in a guest room at Great Wolf Lodge on Monday evening.

Police plan a news conference this afternoon to further discuss what happened. The lodge relocated some guests to other rooms and cordoned off a small section where the room is until police complete their investigation, lodge spokesperson Jason Lasecki said Tuesday.

The lodge resumed normal operations and remains open, Lasecki said.

"I think it’s important to highlight that law enforcement assessed the situation at the resort, determined it was isolated family incident and quickly verified there was no ongoing security concern," he said in an email.

The lodge issued a statement addressing the incident.

"We are deeply saddened and heartbroken by a tragic domestic incident that occurred yesterday in a guest room at our resort in the Pocono Mountains," the statement says. "It was an isolated family incident, and we’re cooperating fully with local law enforcement as they conduct their investigation. Our thoughts are with the family and loved ones of those affected."

Monroe County Coroner Thomas Yanac confirmed the double homicide but said he does not have autopsies scheduled and declined to offer further details. He referred questions to township police.

Police Chief James Wagner was unavailable for comment, but is expected to speak at the news conference at the township building.
