Residents vowed to fight a federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement proposal to open an immigrant detention center in a former Big Lots warehouse in Tremont Twp., Schuylkill County. A Democratic congressional candidate organized the town hall.

ICE took restaurant owner Nasario Damian Contreras, a native of Mexico, into custody last Tuesday outside Isabella's Restaurant in Lackawanna County. Now, his family is hoping for the best.
